Pomerol located at west of St Emilion, between the Barbanne and Taillas rivers. It is the smallest wine growing area in Bordeaux, with a paltry area of less than 800 hectares. Vineyards on the Rive Gauche of Bordeaux actually date back to Roman rule, and Pomeroy is no exception. While Bordeaux's traditional vineyards, such as Graves and Sauternes, have flourished in the Middle Ages, Pomeranian houches have fluctuated, even withering during the French-British War until the 15th century.
Pomerol has a small upland edge, a gravel-clay soil that is also home to high-quality wines, and the crasse defer is rich in iron, where the density and size of gravel affect the wine's flavor. As you go west along the region, you will find that the soil is getting more and more sandy, but not that the higher the sand content, the stronger the wine's flavor.
The clay base gives Pomerol a distinctive, full-bodied wine with fresh fruit aromas. The main grape variety in the region is Merlot, which produces red wines with a style of elegance and firmness rarely seen elsewhere and that are more durable.
Pomerol doesn't have a classification, and its famous wineries are definitely more expensive than the Chateau Petrus, Le Pin, etc. on the left bank of Bordeaux.e is twice as high. The wines here are well-received and can be proved to be of superior quality at current market prices, with the wines from Petrus, Trotanoy and Le Pin being the most outstanding.
