Made for the very first time, the 2017 Mehringer Layet Spätlese displays very clear, fresh and crunchy slate notes with fine Riesling and floral aromas (hazelnut blossoms). Sweet and racy-piquant on the palate, this is a classic Mosel Spätlese style with 7.5% alcohol and sugar that is well-absorbed. The finish is stimulatingly piquant and salty due to the pure and crystalline structure of this remarkably elegant Spätlese. Pretty complex in the aftertaste. Tasted from AP 11 18 in April 2019.
