James Suckling 94-95 pts
Very refined nose of blue and black berries with some bacon fat, spice and candied orange. A tightly structured Cote-Rotie, this has been built to last. Some may find it a bit challenging on release, but we love the generous, fine-grained tannins that build impressively at the imposing and firm finish. Limited production. From biodynamically grown grapes.
Robert Parker 91-93 pts
Coming from the southern end of the appellation, the 2020 Cote Rotie Les Pierrelles (Domaine) hints at violets and pencil shavings on the nose, then easily moves into notes of blueberries and mulberries, all backed by asphalt and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, it's a bit tight and constrained on the palate at this stage but boasts a soft, elegant finish that suggests relatively early drinkability.
