Readers who are familiar with the Barraud portfolio may like to think of the 2017 Saint-Véran Les Pommards, which derives from a northeast-facing site with rocky, iron-rich soils, as a "baby" En Buland, and it's showing especially well this year. Revealing aromas of orange oil, white flowers, fresh peach and wheat toast, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with old-vine concentration, racy acids and a long, lively finish.
