Aloxe-Corton is located north of the Cote de Beaune, below the cliffs of the Cote d'Or. The name"Corton", has always attracted the people who love Burgundy wines. In the mid-9th century, "Corton" was added to the original village name "Aloxe". In 1982, about one-third of the vineyards were rated as Premier Cru.The soils of this region are reddish brown with limestone rich in potassium and phosphoric acid. The soils in the northern regions are cobblestone, clay and marl. Both red wines (98%) and white wines (2%) are produced here.
The red wine is mainly made from Pinot Noir, which is dark in color and has a spring flower-like aroma such as raspberry, strawberry, black currant and blackberry. When ripe, it smells peony, jasmine, candied fruit pistachios, plums, leather, truffles, mushrooms and cinnamon.
Basically, many famous wineries have their own land, including Faiveley, de Montille, Louis Jadot, Pousse d'Or, Meo-Camuzet, Ponsot, which de Montille brews red and white wine here.
